Episode 1 - "Maja Grande"

This unforgettable adventure took the BCOSF team to La Paz, Mexico, where we partnered with La Paz Tourism and Deep Blue Sportfishing for a truly memorable experience at the Maja Grande Tournament.

The BCOSF Crew — joined by Jesse Zeeman of the BC Wildlife Federation — took on the challenge in the fourth annual Maja El Grande tournament, where a staggering 139 boats entered, far surpassing the 100-team expectation. With more than 4.7 million pesos on the line (over $350,000 CAD), it was one of the richest dorado tournaments of the year. As anglers from across Mexico, Canada and the U.S. competed off La Paz Bay, the stakes — and the excitement — couldn’t have been higher.

Thank you to Poncho with Deep Blue Sportfishing and Tourism La Paz for bringing the BCOSF crew down and sharing this incredible event with our viewers!

Ventana Blue Boutique Hotel in La Ventana set the stage for one of our most memorable Mexico episodes. Tucked along the stunning Sea of Cortez, this boutique escape offers modern comfort, laid-back luxury, and some of the best hospitality we've experienced. Poncho, the owner, is an outstanding host whose warm welcome, local knowledge, and attention to detail made our stay unforgettable — and the food and drinks were absolutely spectacular. For anyone planning a La Ventana adventure, Ventana Blue is the perfect place to unwind, recharge, and enjoy the magic of Baja.
